A peaceful place to rest, practise, and reconnect

Stay at Milarepa Retreat Centre

Milarepa Retreat Centre offers simple, peaceful accommodation units for visitors who wish to join teachings, attend Dharma activities, or spend personal time in meditation and retreat. These units also welcome guests seeking a quiet rural stay in a calm and natural environment.
Set within open hills, streams, and natural landscape, the Centre provides a setting that supports reflection, practice, and deep rest, away from the noise and busyness of daily life.
Our accommodation units are available for booking throughout the year, whether you are attending teachings by visiting or resident teachers, undertaking your own personal retreat, or simply staying to experience the tranquillity of the Centre.
These units are being progressively improved into retreat villas to better support short-term stays for visitors from New Zealand and overseas.

Who Can Book

Accommodation may be booked for two types of stays:

🌼 1. When attending teachings or Dharma events

Visitors participating in teachings by overseas masters, retreats led by the resident Retreat Master, Dharma talks, or ceremonies may book a hut for the duration of the program.
Staying on site provides easy access to the teaching venue and a supportive environment for practice.

🌿 2. Personal retreat or quiet practice

Accommodations may also be booked when there are no scheduled teachings.
Visitors may come for personal retreat, meditation, prayer, study, or simply to spend time in a quiet and natural rural environment.
Short-term stays for rest, reflection, or self-retreat are welcome, subject to availability and Centre guidelines.

Accommodation is open to guests from New Zealand and overseas who wish to experience the peaceful environment of the Centre, whether for spiritual practice or a calm rural stay.
All guests are expected to respect the quiet and contemplative atmosphere of the Centre.
